According to Vasep sources, EU approved Indonesia’s proposal for controlling antibiotic residues in livestock and products made from animal. This Agreement also means that EU postpones implementing the plan of forbidding importing aquatic products from some Indonesia companies.
Before this Agreement was signed, EU had considered rejecting some Indonesian suppliers of aquatic product because they had not met the EU’s safety food standards, such as exported aquatic products with antibiotic residues or other chemicals that are harmful to consumers’ health.
According to this Agreement, EU continues controlling the quality of Indonesian aquatic products, especially products rooting from feeding fisheries.
