A study indicated that Ethiopia should reconsider its anti-dumping law in its accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The study conducted by the ministry of trade and industry through local and international consulting agencies identified that the county’s anti-dumping law should have to comply with laws of WTO.

The Ethiopian trade law puts administrative measures and punishments against activities that hurt local industries by dumping imported goods.

However, WTO trade laws put additional taxes with a view to protecting countries against dumping.

Hence, the study said, reconsidering the law in line with WTO laws would give another opportunity to Ethiopia in its accession to the organization.

WTO allows member countries to execute anti-dumping law upon goods being sold below manufacturing costs as such goods affect local industries, according to the study.
