Dumping duty imposed on recordable DVDs from China, HK, Chinese Taipei

NEW DELHI, NOV 22: The Finance Ministry has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on recordable DVDs from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The duty has been imposed on digital versatile discs (DVD)-recordable of the DVD-R and DVD+R kind, originating in or exported from these three countries.

This levy -- which will be valid for five years -- follows the recommendation of the designated authority in the Commerce Ministry to impose definitive anti-dumping duty on recordable DVDs from these countries.

Moser Baer, a dominant producer of DVDs in India, had in July 2013 filed a petition seeking continuation of anti-dumping duty at enhanced rates.

In the case of recordable DVDs from China, the revenue department has now imposed an anti-dumping duty of $36.67 per 1,000 pieces.

For recordable DVDs imported from Taiwan, the anti-dumping duty has been pegged at $22.39 per 1,000 pieces.

In the case of recordable DVDs imported from Hong Kong, the revenue department has imposed an anti-dumping duty of $36.67 per 1,000 pieces.
