Colombia to apply new regulations on apparel and footwear imports

According to New China News Agency, Colombia Government already decided to implement new regulations on the import of apparel and footwear products to tighten their control over the import of these products.
As per new regulations, foreign exporters and Colombian importers are requested to declare to customs and tax authorities 15 days before transporting their goods through the Colon free trade region in Panama.
Garment and footwear products are imported to Colombia from appointed ports including airport in Bogota and Northwest port in Barranquilla.
New regulations come into effect from 1st July and terminate on 31st December and only applied to garment and footwear products imported from Colon.
Authorities said that Colombia applied these methods in order to fight against the domestic smuggling.
