China to review anti-dumping measures for imported wine from Australia

China will make an objective, fair and impartial ruling based on the review results of the claims and evidence of all interested parties, after conducting a review on the anti-dumping and countervailing measures applicable to imported wine originating from Australia, said the Ministry of Commerce on Thursday.

Speaking at a weekly news conference in Beijing, Shu Jueting, the ministry's spokeswoman, said the commerce ministry received a review application from the Australian Grape and Wine Inc - the country's national association of wine grape growers and wine producers - in late October. It wishes the Chinese government to investigate the necessity of continuing to impose anti-dumping and countervailing duties.

The Ministry of Commerce reviewed the applicant's claims and the evidence attached, and decided to accept the application, as it met the filing conditions and evidence requirements, and initiated a review investigation, said Shu.

The review will start on Thursday. China will assess the necessity of imposing anti-dumping and countervailing duties on imported wine from Australia.
