China to investigate steel dumping by U.S.

China's Ministry of Commerce said Wednesday, it will begin an anti-dumping investigation into a certain type of steel imported from the U.S. This is the first investigation into the product since the beginning of the year.
The Ministry of Commerce says the investigation will cover subsidies of grain oriented flat-rolled electrical steel imported from the U.S.. The steel is in short supply in China. Only two domestic steel makers can produce this type of steel. The price of the steel spiraled downward since the fourth quarter of last year, as a large number of inexpensive grain flat-rolled electrical steel has entered the Chinese market from the U.S..
