China Starts Antidumping Probe on Seamless Steel Tubes from EU, US, Japan

BEIJING--China has begun an antidumping investigation on some high-performance alloy-steel seamless tubes from the EU, Japan and the U.S., the Ministry of Commerce said Friday.

The commerce ministry received a complaint from Inner Mongolia North Heavy Industries Group Co., Ltd. on March 22 against imported alloy-steel seamless tubes and pipes for high temperatures and pressures from suppliers in these areas, the ministry said in a statement on its website.

The antidumping probe will focus on identifying any antidumping activities in the past year, but the ministry said it will look at the past four years to determine whether the industry was harmed.

Investigations normally last one year but could be extended, it said.

The tubes are mainly used to make overheaters and superheaters for boilers at power stations, the statement said.
