In January 2026, exports of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products to China accounted for more than 22% of total export value, equivalent to nearly 1.5 billion USD, and increased by more than 66% compared to the same period.

In terms of markets, China continues to be Viet Nam's largest agricultural trading partner. Durian, bananas, dragon fruit, and jackfruit remain the most exported fruits and vegetables to the neighboring country in the first month of the year. Exports of many other items such as cassava, rubber, and cashew nuts to China also increased.

However, technical standards for goods sold to this market have also been tightened. Vietnamese agricultural products and food exported to this country will be subject to stricter registration regulations from the middle of this year.

Many Vietnamese export businesses have upgraded their growing areas, invested in cold storage facilities, and processing lines to meet these stringent standards.

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , total agricultural exports to all markets reached US$3.6 billion in the first month of this year. This represents an increase of nearly 42% compared to the same period last year and is the main driving force behind the overall growth of the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors.

In terms of growth rate, fruits and vegetables were the fastest-growing group, with export value reaching $750 million, double that of the same period last year. Besides China, fruit and vegetable exports to the US and Malaysia also recorded significant increases.

Cashew nuts ranked second in terms of growth rate (reaching $434 million, up 70%) thanks to recovering demand in China and Europe. Pepper came in third with $133 million, up 53%.
