BEIJING (Oct. 5, 2:30 p.m. ET) — After a year-long investigation, China has decided to continue to impose antidumping duties on PVC import from the United States, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and Russia. The new five-year term started Sept. 29.
China’s Ministry of Commerce stated in the final ruling that the domestic PVC industry would be harmed without the antidumping tariffs in place.
China launched anti-dumping measures on PVC from the five destinations in 2003. At the end of the five-year term, Beijing started an investigation on the possible effects of ending the antidumping measures, upon petitions by domestic manufacturers including Qilu Petrochemical Corp. (owned by Sinopec), Yibin Tianyuan Group Co. Ltd., Xinjiang Zhongtai Chemical Co. Ltd., Sichuan Jinlu Resin Co. Ltd., Shanghai Chlor-Alkali Chemical Co. Ltd., Zhejiang Juhua Co. Ltd., Haohua Astronavigation Chemical Co. Ltd., and Tianjin Botian Chemical Co. Ltd.
