China has imposed anti-subsidy tariffs of 7.4-11.7% on certain EU dairy products for five years starting February 13, following an investigation that concluded imports were harming the domestic industry.
According to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce on February 12, China will impose countervailing duties on certain dairy products from the European Union (EU) for five years, starting February 13. The tax rate will range from 7.4% to 11.7%, depending on the company.
Following a request from domestic businesses, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce launched an anti-subsidy investigation on August 21, 2024.
The investigation complies with the laws and regulations of this country as well as the relevant regulations of the World Trade Organization, on the principles of fairness, openness and transparency.
A report from China's Ministry of Commerce indicates that some EU dairy products have been subsidized, and that importing these products has harmed the domestic industry.
