China deplores EU tariffs on pipes
13/10/2009 12:00
China's Ministry of Commerce or MOC says it is "dissatisfied" with the European Union's decision to impose anti-dumping tariffs on seamless steel pipes.
The duties, for five years, range from 17.7 percent to just under 40 percent. They were imposed on the basis that Chinese imports might cause material injury or threat.
The Chinese ministry says the EU should come up with more evidence to prove the accusation under world trade rules.
The MOC official added the EU has failed to honor its commitment of opposing protectionism and that Chinese enterprises will work to safeguard their interests.
