In the first three quarters of 2009, a total of 19 countries and regions launched 88 trade relief investigations on Chinese products, including 57 anti-dumping and nine countervailing investigations, involving a total of about 10.2 billion U.S. dollars, said Yao Jian, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM), on October 15.
The money involved in investigation cases launched by the U.S. on Chinese products accounted for 57 percent of the total amount involved in all trade relief investigations on Chinese products this year.
Yao said that China firmly opposes clear trade protectionism measures, and will submit some cases to the World Trade Organization (WTO) for investigation. He also pointed out that all countries should dialectically and objectively view trade friction. Yao hopes that Chinese industries will make progress in dealing with trade friction, and further improve product grade, competitiveness and branding when going global.
