The U.S. Department of Commerce is continuing its investigations into imports of self-propelled aerial work platforms from China, after the United States International Trade Commission said that there was sufficient indications that US manufacturers were being harmed by ‘unfair' pricing practices, assisted by state subsidies or support.

The investigation is a result of a petition from JLG and Genie under the banner of the Coalition of American Manufacturers of Mobile Access Equipment – they are its only members - see: JLG and Genie file anti-dumping petition.

An update was due on Monday this week but has yet to be made public. Assuming the ongoing investigation supports the preliminary ruling, it will move onto the
next stage and issue a preliminary anti-dumping duty determination in early August.

The precise wording from the International Trade Commission is as follows:

“There is a reasonable indication that an industry in the United States is materially injured by reason of imports of certain mobile access equipment and subassemblies thereof from China, provided for in subheadings 8427.10.80, 8427.20.80, 8427.90.00, and 8431.20.00 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States, that are alleged to be sold in the United States at less than fair value and to be subsidized by the government of China.”
