India to impose anti dumping duty on NBR from China, Japan, EU, Russia
India will impose a five-year antidumping duty (ADD) of $2,086.78/tonne on acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) imports from China, EU, Japan and Russia.
The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) of India on 12 May recommended the ADD, citing the adverse impact of NBR dumping on the domestic industry.
A probe was launched in May 2020 following complaints lodged by India’s sole domestic NBR producer Apcotex Industries Ltd.
The investigation covered the period July 2019 to March 2020.
For the purpose of injury investigation, the period also covered the three fiscal years from 2018-19.
India’s Ministry of Finance is reviewing the ADDs, which are expected to be imposed within three months.
NBR is a synthetic rubber used in the manufacture of articles where resistance to oil, abrasion and heat applications are involved, such as oil seals, hoses, automotive products, gaskets, fabrics, etc.
