Extension of steel safeguard measures in the EU

The European Commission announced in regulation 2021/1029 on 25 June 2021, the extension of safeguard measures on imports of steel into the EU, for a further 3 years, with effect from 1 July 2021.
This affects steel exports to the EU from the UK and imports from outside of the UK and EU to Northern Ireland.
The measures retain the same coverage as those currently in force, but there will be a 3% increase in the quota amounts for the first year. Refer to regulation 2021/1029 on the EurLex website for more information.
The quotas will be reviewed during the period they are in force.
